BillPay

BillPay is Paynow's bill payment and service vending platform, enabling payments to a wide range of billers across Zimbabwe.

BillPay provides two distinct APIs depending on your role:

Vendor API​

The Vendor API is for vendors (resellers) who want to facilitate bill payments and provision services on behalf of their customers. Use this API to:

  • List available billers and their products
  • Authorize and process payments (Auth/Pay flow)
  • Query payment status and history
  • Manage vendor balances
  • Handle reversals/refunds
  • Receive webhook notifications for biller config changes

Biller API​

N.B. The Biller API is for offline billers whereby BillPay will accept payment on behalf of the biller and then notify the biller of the payment. Our preference is to integrate with online billers such that a customer's payment is directly processed by the biller. If you are an online biller, please contact Paynow support to discuss integration options.

The Biller API is for billers (service providers) who want to manage their members and receive payment notifications through BillPay. Use this API to:

  • Create, update, and delete members
  • Bulk upload/delete members
  • Download payment reports
  • Receive payment notifications via webhooks

Authentication​

Both APIs use HTTP basic authentication. Contact Paynow support to have API credentials created for your account.
